Join Us to Move 135 Miles to Save 135 Lives!
CONTENT WARNING
Every day, an estimated 135 people complete suicide.
- 107 men die by suicide every day
- 28 women die by suicide every day
- 4 male deaths for every female death by suicide
- 2nd leading cause of death for young people (15-24 yrs old)
Behind each number is a name, a face, a story, and a community forever changed. A Call to Men invites you to join us in honoring those lives and taking action for prevention.
With the overwhelming number of deaths, particularly among men, one might wonder what makes it so hard for men and boys in crisis to ask for help.
Men complete suicide four times the amount as women because we are socialized not to ask for, offer, or accept help. We are expected to always be in control and to never show weakness of any kind because of The Man Box, which represents the collective socialization of men, or the unwritten rules of how we are taught to be as men. And these rules can have unfortunate consequences. That’s why we need your help.
