Career Opportunity – Director of Youth Initiatives

Position Summary: The Director of Youth Initiatives will lead community organizing efforts to engage NYC  stakeholders in the work of A Call to Men, as well as leading and participating in national training events. The  Director of Youth Initiatives will supervise the Coordinator of Youth Initiatives, provide support to A Call to  Men’s Youth ACT! Youth council and Youth Empowerment and Support Squad (YES Squad); facilitate trainings,  coordinating youth engagement initiatives including an annual youth summit and Dismantling Patriarchy art  contest. The Director of Youth Initiatives will work closely with The Director of Healthy Manhood Initiatives in  support of the Healthy Masculinity Project (HMP). The Director of Youth Initiatives position is based out of New  York City and is a work-from-home job with some travel. 

Community Organizing – Essential Job Functions: 

  • Organize and participate in meetings throughout NYC with partner organizations, community stakeholders, government officials, etc.
  • Actively participate in a collaborative process to promote healthy, respectful manhood and prevent all forms of violence and discrimination against all women and girls.
  • Supervise Coordinator of Youth Initiatives
  • Provide leadership to A CALL TO MEN’s Youth ACT! Youth council and YES Squad
  • Facilitating trainings with/for youth and young adults
  • Coordinating youth engagement initiatives including an annual youth summit and Dismantling Patriarchy art contest
  • Develop, lead and implement annual youth initiative deliverables
  • Manage Youth Initiatives annual budget
  • Serve as liaison to existing NYC stakeholders in community organizing activities (specifically, the New York Women’s Foundation and its designated grantees).
  • Represent A Call to Men at appropriate meetings, presentations and community events, as needed in NY and nationally.
  • Develop and implement time specific plans to further the work of A Call to Men in NYC.
  • Create and distribute communications related to NYC organizing activities and issues.
  • Build knowledge of appropriate community services and resources to increase A Call to Men organizing opportunities. 
  • Develop specific goals to amplify the impact of the NYC stakeholders’ group.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships and community mobilization to engage men in NY
  • Report monthly progress to A Call to Men direct supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned

Training Coordinator – Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead NYC information sessions about A Call to Men’s work 
  • Lead and coordinate NYC trainings on A Call to Men’s work.
  • Lead trainings on A Call to Men’s LIVERESPECT Curriculum.
  • Support execution of trainings; including community engagement model, community institute and general ACTM trainings.
  • Build knowledge of appropriate community services and resources to increase A Call to Men’s training opportunities
  • Support program evaluation and program development of all trainings.
  • Report monthly progress to A Call to Men direct supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned

Healthy Masculinity Project – Essential Job Functions: 

  • Manage onboarding for new grant partners
  • Completing MOUs
  • Submitting disbursement requests
  • Ensuring onboarding requirements are completed
  • Tracking program documents 
  • Work alongside Director of Healthy Manhood Initiatives for grant management purposes
  • Facilitate trainings as needed
  • Coordinate and attend site visits

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to write reports, keep records, and work within budgets 
  • Strong computer skills
  • Bilingual ability preferred

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree preferred or comparable experience working in community building
  • 5 years’ experience working in the violence against women movement and community organizing
  •  5 years’ experience with training and curriculum development  

Organizational Relationship: 

The Director of Youth Initiatives reports directly to the Chief Development Officer and works closely with the  Director of Healthy Manhood Initiatives. 

Physical Demands: 

This position requires frequent use of computer and telephone. Sitting, talking and listening for 4+ hours per day.  An average of 4 hours per day spent at computer. Lifting up to 10 lbs.  

Work Environment: 

This position is located in a home office and will require moderate travel.
