William F. Gorin

William F. Gorin is senior counsel based in the New York office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. Gorin's practice focuses on domestic and international financing and business transactions, including U.S. securities laws, equity and debt offerings, and corporate acquisitions. Bill has extensive experience in initial public offerings, as well as high-yield and Yankee bond debt financings for companies in the United States, Latin America and Europe. He also provides advice regarding corporate governance matters and fiduciary duties of officers and directors to corporations and their boards of directors. Gorin is also experienced in advising sovereign governments on debt restructurings, bank loans, securities offerings and privatizations. Gorin is internationally distinguished as a leading lawyer by Chambers USA, The Legal 500 U.S., Latin Lawyer 250: Latin America's Leading Business Law Firms and IFLR 1000: The Guide to the World’s Leading Law Firms.


Gorin has taught at Columbia University School of Law, lecturing on the various aspects of international banking and financial law. He joined the firm in 1978, became a partner in 1986, and senior counsel in 2014. He was resident in the Paris office from 1979 to 1982. Gorin received a J.D. degree from Columbia University in 1978 and an undergraduate degree from Haverford College in 1975. He is a member of the Bar in New York. His native language is English, and he is fluent in French.
